And that is not even including how great Shane had been to them after Rick initially got shot and ended up in the hospital. That kind of thing can really bind people. Is that maybe a little fast for her to move on? Yeah, sure, but people deal with grief and stress in different ways, and Shane had saved her life and her son's life. Shane went to check, and under those circumstances, I think it was pretty fair of him to say Rick was a goner. Lori was a troublesome character from the start, but I think saying that she cheated on Rick is incredibly unfair. Things could never have been the same between Lori and Rick after that - and that is also why Rick possessed so much guilt after Lori's death, he never really forgave her for what she did and she had to die thinking her husband hated her. You can see that at his speech at the end of Season 2 ("I killed my best friend for you people. The fact that his wife cheated on him and got knocked up by his best friend in the world, and then to top it off he had to murder him for that, changed him completely. Shane was like his brother, and in a way Rick held both himself and Lori responsible for Shane's death. The reason why Rick became so cold to her during Season 3 was because killing his best friend changed him. ![]() She knew how much her son admired him and looked up to him. The fact that Carl shot zombified Shane also adhered to her breakdown at the end. However, when Rick told Lori that he killed Shane it was clear that yes, she wanted him gone, but the actual knowing that Shane, a guy she once had feelings for, the potential father of her unborn child and a man that Carl loved, destroyed her. Lori was never a consistent character, anyways, so I can't say for sure why she reacted like she did. ![]() Even though she did think Shane was dangerous towards the end (hence the reason why she told Rick that in the tent) I don't think she truly knew what she was asking her husband to do. Also, when Shane brought Lori back to the farm in the episode Triggerfinger, he told her to think about how she felt, and when he walked away the camera panned to her and she started to cry. I don't even know if this baby is yours"). Although she probably wasn't "in love" with him as he was with her, their conversation at the windmill where she apologizes to him and starts crying is a clear giveaway that she was repressing some of her feelings ("whatever we thought this was, and it wasn't just you. The way I always interpreted it, was that Lori cared about Shane much more than she led on. (There aren't many, I'm a huge fan of everything walking dead)Ĭould anyone try and clarify this for me? I might be overanalyzing a little to much but it's one of the main problems I have with the Television series. Towards the end it seemed like he only cared about keeping Lori safe for the baby's sake. It just seems like such an odd way for the characters to go after it was shown how much Rick cared about his family. He doesn't even kiss her one last time, just touches her shoulder and says "We're real grateful for what you did. Lori has seemed to move on but because of her actions, Rick has come completely cold to her all the way up to her death. This all leads to a gigantic split in their marriage as we see in the start of season 3. It's Lori's own damn fault for not actually watching her ONLY son and allowing him to slip away unnoticed once again which caused Carl to be involved.Įven after Lori allows Carl to wonder off again, she gives Rick no gratitude in bringing him back safely through that herd. He basically just killed another walker, because all of them witnesses in "TS-19" as it shows that the part of the brain that's you doesn't come back. I have thought that she reacted this way because Carl was involved but: ![]() Lori acts completely unreasonable to Rick trying to be open & Truthful with her about his actions.THAT SHE GAVE HIM THE IDEA AND BLESSING TO DO IN THE FIRST PLACE. Upon hearing this Lori completely acts devastated and hurtful towards Rick and it all comes to a head when he says that Carl put him down after he came back. Now fast forward to the end of that season where Rick reveals the Lori that he killed Shane on the episode before because he led Rick out there just to kill him. Upon hearing that Rick did, she clearly then put the idea for Rick to kill Shane because she says Shane thinks that her & the baby are his. "You killed the living to protect what's yours?" Hey guys! Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm kind of new to this subreddit and there is something that has seriously been bothering me about the TV show.Īt the end of episode 9 "Triggerfinger" Lori asks Rick:
